Housekeeper

Location: Maidstone / Reading / Telford/ Sheffields/ Himley

Position Summary: The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces in the hotel. This role ensures a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests while supporting the hotel’s standards of service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Room Cleaning & Maintenance
Clean and prepare guest rooms according to hotel standards, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing bathrooms.
Replenish amenities, linens, towels, and in-room supplies.
Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the relevant department.
Ensure rooms are ready for check-in within designated timeframes.

Public Area & Facility Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of corridors, lobbies, restrooms, elevators, and other public areas.
Assist in cleaning back-of-house areas, staff rooms, and storage spaces.
Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling according to hotel policies.

Guest Service & Interaction
Respond politely and promptly to guest requests related to housekeeping.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with guests.
Assist guests with extra amenities or special housekeeping requirements.

Safety & Hygiene Compliance
Adhere to hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards, including chemical handling procedures.
Follow proper infection control protocols and hotel housekeeping SOPs.
Use equipment and cleaning tools safely and responsibly.

Teamwork & Reporting
Coordinate with Housekeeping Supervisors and Room Attendants for efficient workflow.
Assist in training new housekeeping staff as required.
Complete daily checklists, inventory reports, and cleaning logs.

Skills & Competencies
Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
Time management and ability to work efficiently
Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods
Professional attitude and teamwork orientation
Good communication and guest service skills

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in housekeeping or hotel cleaning preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
